Susan C. Sheeran

Susan C. Sheeran is a partner with the firm. Ms. Sheeran represents private and public sector employers in all types of labor and employment law matters and proceedings. Her areas of experience include:
 

  • Providing preventive advice and training on employment issues such as hiring, FMLA, employee benefits, and federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Defending employers in various proceedings, including employee discrimination and wrongful discharge matters, unemployment claims, worker's compensation claims, OSHA violations, and wage and hour claims.
  • Assisting employers to comply with employment laws, including OSHA, COBRA and HIPAA.
  • Helping employers develop proper policies, procedures and employee handbooks.
  • Drafting and enforcing employment contracts and non-compete and confidentiality agreements.
  • Advising employers on labor matters, including union organizing campaigns, negotiations, administration of labor agreements, unfair labor practice proceedings and grievance arbitrations.
  • Representing school districts on various legal issues including personnel issues and expulsion hearings.
 

Ms. Sheeran has presented employment law seminars to many different groups, including the Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin, and regularly conducts training sessions for private employers and their supervisors, managers, and human resources professionals on a variety of personnel and employment law topics.

Ms. Sheeran earned her B.A. degree (1968) and her Masters of Education (1970) from the University of Illinois, and received her J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1986). She is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and Dane County Bar Association. Ms. Sheeran served as a director of the State Bar of Wisconsin's Labor and Employment Law Section from 2001-2004. The Martindale Hubbell Law Directory gives Ms. Sheeran its highest rating of “AV" for professional competency and ethical conduct.
